The Frenship head coaching vacancy has been filled.

Monday the FISD Board of Trustees unanimously approved Jay Northcutt as the new man in charge of the Tigers.

Northcutt, a Plainview native was previously the offensive coordinator at Sachse High School.

During his tenure (2013-2016) Sachse won 35 games and finished in the top five in total offense among DFW metroplex schools.

Northcutt graduated from Plainview High School in 1994 and was thrilled to be back in a familiar setting,

“I’ll tell you what it’s awesome, I’ve always had an affection for the people of the panhandle here in West Texas, growing up here I’m very familiar with the culture and with the people.”

As for the offense the former Sachse OC said he has big plans for the Tigers,

“we’re going to run a style of offense that’s going to ignite enthusiasm amongst the community, it’s going to ignite enthusiasm amongst the players, it’s going to be fun to play fun to watch.”

Northcutt made it clear, he believes Frenship can be a contender year in and year out,

“to me the things that make Frenship special are, it’s setup to become a 6A football dynasty and what I mean by that is it’s a one horse town if you want to use that word, every kid that comes through this system is a Tiger.”
