When you play a Bill Snyder, Kansas State football team. You know what you are going to get.

A disciplined, possession based, defensive type football game.

A team that grinds you until you break.

And in  day and age of college football where defense is optional, K-State is the outlier.

The Wildcats boast a ranking of No. 4 nationally in total defense.

Good enough for the best unit in the Big 12 conference.

When compared to the rest of the league, there is only one other program that ranks inside the Top-20 in the same category.

Baylor, who checks in at No. 27 in total defense.

The other eight teams fall in line at No. 77 or worse.

Meaning, it’s shaping up to be a tremendous test for a Texas Tech offense that is averaging 55 points per game away from Jones AT&T Stadium.

“They are a good defense. There is no question,” Texas Tech head coach Kliff Kingsbury said. “They’ve gone a great job thus far watching those games they’ve played. They make you earn every inch of it. They play around to the football. They’re sound in their assignments and technique and they play really hard. Any yards we get we’ll earn ’em.”
