Five games remain on the Red Raiders schedule, and they will have to win three in order to reach the 6-win plateau and gain bowl eligibility.

1,708 yards of offense were racked up between Texas Tech and No. 16 Oklahoma on Saturday night. It was the most combined yards by two teams in a single game in NCAA history.

It probably lead Tech’s defensive coordinator David Gibbs to pull his hair out.

The Red Raiders allowed Oklahoma’s offense 854 yards of offense to Baker Mayfield and the Sooners, 594 of which Oklahoma’s sophomore running back Joe Mixon, and senior wide receiver Dede Westbrook were responsible for.

Texas Tech head coach Kliff Kingsbury said after the game, that the duo were better and faster than anyone Tech had on the field.

He was phenomenal. He was better than anybody we had on the field. He’s a better receiver. We couldn’t cover him and tackle him. And Baker was on and made a bunch of great throws. Dede Westbrook was faster than anybody we had,” Kingsbury said. “We couldn’t stop him, so it made for a bad combination when you don’t turn them over at all. It’s been a common thing — we couldn’t get any turnovers and we turned I thought over twice.”

At this point, with a defense that ranks No. 127 out of 128 teams, Kingsbury said they’re pretty much open to suggestions.
