LUBBOCK, Texas (March 11, 2017) – The No. 20 Lubbock Christian University Lady Chaparrals dropped the rubber match to No. 3 St. Mary’s University 2-0 Saturday at PlainsCapital Park on the LCU campus.

SHUTOUT

The Lady Chaps (17-8) could not get much going, managing only six base runners in the game off four hits, a walk and a throwing error. St. Mary’s (19-6) scored both of their runs in the third inning with the first coming off a solo home run to the first batter of the inning, Kristal Salinas and the other when Alena Moreno doubled to bring home Ally Ortiz.

IN THE CIRCLE

Monique Garcia (7-5) got the start for LCU going 2.2 innings, allowing two runs off four hits while walking one to suffer her fifth loss of the season. Katlyn Holmes went 1.1 innings in relief not allowing any runs off one hit before giving way to Katera Eltsosie, who pitched the final three innings. Eltsosie did not allow any runs on three hits and she had a strike out. Jordan Russell (9-2) went the distance for the Rattlers shutting out the Lady Chaps, allowing only the four hits to notch her ninth victory of the year.

RE-MATCH

The Lady Chaps return to the field on Monday, March 13 for a double-header re-match with the No. 8 Rambelles of Angelo State with the first pitch scheduled for 2:00 p.m. All the action can be followed at www.lcuchaps.com.
