LUBBOCK, Texas   Lubbock Christian University used a seven-run fourth-inning, all with two outs, to claim a 10-0 victory over University of Colorado Colorado Springs (UCCS) Monday at the LCU Invitational. The victory ended up wrapping up an originally scheduled nine-game homestand, as the howling plus-40-MPH dirt-filled winds led to LCU and West Texas A&M agreeing to cancel their contest Monday evening.

LCU heads to the Edmond Regional Festival II, co-hosted by Central Oklahoma and Oklahoma Christian, where they will hit the diamond Friday at 3 p.m. facing Southwestern Oklahoma State at Tom Heath Field at Lawson Plaza on the Oklahoma Christian campus. LCU has five games scheduled at the event.

LCU Highlights:

  • Alivia Villarreal and Megan Darling each went 2-for-3 with two runs-batted-in.
  • Freshman pitcher Taylor Franco recorded her first complete game shutout and struck out five batters in 5.0 innings of work.
  • Savannah Wysocki (2-for-4) and Alexa Riggs (2-for-2) each had a pair of hits.
  • Alexis Reed produced her first home run of the season in a 1-for-2 plate appearance.
