Local Colleges Turn In Winning Basketball Weekend

Both Wayland Baptist and Lubbock Christian turned in winning doubleheader weekends.

At the Rip Griffin Center, the Chaps beat Rogers State 81-70, while the second ranked Lady Chaps took down the Hillcats 82-38. With the victory, the Lady Chaps clinched at least a share of the Heartland Regular Season Championship with three games left to play.


In Plainview, both the Wayland Baptist men’s and women’s teams came away with upset victories. The twentieth ranked Pioneers downed fifteenth ranked Oklahoma City University 80-78, while the sixth ranked Flying Queens beat fourth ranked Oklahoma City 73-66.

Both Wayland Baptist teams are back in action against Oklahoma Panhandle State on February 12, while both Lubbock Christian teams play next on February 15 against Newman.
