Sources out of Amarillo and Brownfield ISD confirm Head Football Coach and Athletic Director Bryan Welps is heading back to the Panhandle after six seasons with the Cubs. Welps will be returning to the school from which he came, the River Road Wildcats. Welps record with Brownfield was 28-36-1 which includes a 8-2-1 season in 2015. Welps is returning to an area where his head coaching career began at Highland Park High School in 2001. Welps will replace Phillip Wiggins who just recently stepped down as the Wildcats head coach after four years. No word yet as to when it will become official or when the search for a new head coach will begin in Brownfield.
