Texas Tech took a new-look roster to Austin but came away with similar results in Thursday’s Big 12 opener against No. 16 Texas.

The Lady Raiders were held 30 points under their average in the 67-47 loss at the Frank Erwin Center.

“Texas is obviously a very talented, strong and big opponent,” Lady Raider head coach Candi Whitaker said. “They really got us out of sync.  We have got to do a better job executing. The thing I’m probably most disappointed with is our execution on the offensive end and our fight defensively in the third quarter.”

In the third quarter, Texas pulled down eleven of their 20 offensive rebounds which led to nine second chance points.

After getting into eaerly foul trouble, Recee’ Caldwell finished with 24 points in the loss but was the only Lady Raider in double figures.

“She’s got to have help no question,” Whitaker said. “I thought she played extremely hard.  I thought she played like she wanted to win.”

Texas Tech (8-4, 0-1) returns to Lubbock to host Oklahoma State at 2 p.m. Sunday at United Supermarkets Arena.
