It was another heartbreaker for Texas Tech as the Lady Raiders fell, 68-65, to West Virginia on Wednesday.
Texas Tech is now 10-8 on the season, 1-6 in Big 12 play. West Virginia improves to 13-5, 4-3.
West Virginia got hot early and opened with a 13-2 lead in the first three minutes. Texas Tech regrouped and went on a 10-2 run to pull within three.
Brittany Brewer hit back-to-back buckets, tying the game at 17-17 after two minutes of the second quarter. A late layup by Erin DeGrate cut the lead down to four heading into the half.
The score was tied five times and the lead changed six during the third quarter alone. Brewer and Chrislyn Carr combined for the first seven points of the second half. West Virginia’s Tynice Martin and Naomi Davenport score the last two buckets of the quarter to push the Mountaineer’s lead to three heading into the final quarter.
A 24-point fourth quarter wasn’t enough to fend off the Mountaineers as they matched with 24 points of their own.
