The season may not have officially begun for the LCU Lady Chaps, however they are figuring things out fairly quickly.  The Lady Chaps dominated the SMU Mustangs in exhibition play on Sunday in Dallas 62-51.

The Lady Chaps used a combination of strong outside shooting and a stifling defense to hold SMU to just over 37-percent from the field to push the Lady Chaps record against division one teams to 4-1.

“Early in the year you sort of don’t know what to expect maybe from…Definitely from opponents, said Coach Steve Gomez.  “With a lot of new players that SMU had and with some players in new roles for us it was going to be a learning experience.  I thought we handled it really maturely.  We had a lot of players, our veterans that stepped right up from the start and played well.  And it was just a good experience to set a ground work for the season ahead.”

The Lady Chaps will play their second consecutive exhibition game against and division one program on Tuesday against the University of New Mexico at The Pitt in Albuquerque.  Tip is set for 8 pm CST.
