Mahomes Attends Earl Campbell Award Ceremony

Former Texas Tech quarterback Patrick Mahomes didn’t take home the Earl Campbell Tyler Rose Award Wednesday but was in attendance to watch Texas running back D’Onta Foreman win the award.

The Whitehouse native was among five five finalist for the award given to the top offensive player with ties to the state of Texas.

“Having the nomination here in Tyler, Texas where I grew up is an amazing accomplishment and amazing opportunity,” Patrick Mahomes said. “I’m very glad that they nominated me.”

Mahomes was the first to be named a finalist since Jace Amaro in 2013.

He won the Sammy Baugh Award after leading the country with 5,052 passing yards and 53 total touchdowns.
