Wayland Baptist’s Alden Mann has received another post-season award, this time being named to the Associated Press Little All-American Team.
The AP Little All-America Team recognizes outstanding players from NAIA as well as NCAA Division II and III schools.
Mann, who was picked to the second team, is the only player from the Central States Football League to be named to the elite squad.
Mann has received most every available post-season recognition available to him this season, most notably a second straight AFCA NAIA All-American First Team honor.
The 5-foot-10, 200-pound senior linebacker from Wimberley finished second in the NAIA with 17.0 tackles per game and set school records for most tackles in a career (403), season (136) and game (25). He was named CSFL Defensive Player of the Year and is a three-time All-CSFL pick, including a first-team honoree the last two seasons.
He also is a finalist for the Cliff Harris Award, recognizing the nation’s top small college defensive player. The winner of that award will be announced Dec. 24.
Mann was voted CSFL Defensive Player of the Week 10 times over the last two seasons, including NAIA National Player of the Week once. In addition, he was one of Wayland’s two Champions of Character representatives for best representing the five core values of the NAIA: integrity, respect, responsibility, sportsmanship and servant leadership.
In addition, he received Daktronics-NAIA Scholar-Athlete and CoSIDA Academic All-American honors.
