The Estacado Matadors currently sit in a tie fourth place in district 2-4A play, but are only two games back of first place. Overall, the Matadors are 6-15, but head coach Mark Llanas says his team needs to keep their heads up as they continue on in district play.

“Just stay positive,” said Llanas. “You know we’ve played really good baseball, had a couple breaks that didn’t go our way in two games, but for the most part we’ve led every game going into the sixth inning, we just have to finish it. But it’s nothing that can’t be fixed. We’ve kinda had a problem the last couple of games with runners in scoring position, we’ve just got to get those guys in and I think that’ll cure a lot of our ills in terms of winning and losing.”
