Men’s Basketball Announces Non-Conference Schedule

The Texas Tech men’s basketball program and head coach Chris Beard announced its 2016-17 nonconference schedule on Thursday. Game times will be announced at a later date. 
 
In total, the Red Raiders have 11 nonconference home dates which includes an exhibition contest with free admission against Missouri Western (Nov. 4).
 
The nonconference slate is headlined by a trip to the Cancun Challenge in Mexico before Thanksgiving and a home matchup versus LSU (Jan. 28) as part of the SEC/Big 12 Challenge.
 
Texas Tech begins its regular season slate against Houston Baptist (Nov. 11) at the United Supermarkets Arena. The Red Raiders also square off at home versus North Texas (Nov. 15), Incarnate Word (Nov. 30) and Nicholls State (Dec. 14) from the Southland Conference.
 
Texas Tech plays host to Eastern Kentucky (Nov. 19) and Idaho State (Nov. 25) during the regional rounds of the Cancun Challenge at the United Supermarkets Arena.
 
The Red Raiders meet Auburn (Nov. 22) to start the Cancun Challenge Championship Rounds in Mexico and will face either Utah State or Purdue (Nov. 23) to conclude the two-day tournament. Both games will be televised by CBS Sports Network.
 
Texas Tech takes on Rice (Dec. 3), Texas-San Antonio (Dec. 7) and Longwood (Dec. 21) to wrap up a stretch of six home games over a 26-day span. The Red Raiders lone nonconference road tilt is at Richmond (Dec. 17), a return game from Tech’s 85-70 victory last season in Lubbock.
 
More season tickets have already been sold for 2016-17 than all of last season. Fans are encouraged to purchase season tickets now to reserve the best available seats. Season tickets are on-sale and feature affordable payment plans along with a family four-pack of season tickets starting at $199 in designated general admission sections and reserved season tickets for as low as $199.

Information on single-game tickets and mini-plans will be announced by the Texas Tech Athletics Ticket Office at a later date.
