Monterey traveled to Amarillo to take on the Sandies Friday night.
Monterey and Amarillo seemed to be equally matched at first, neck and neck in scores, but Amarillo got hot and pulled away. That hot steak helped the Sandies win the game over the Plainsmen 70-54.
Monterey plays Tascosa next Friday night at home.
