Monterey entered the last week of the regular season in a must win situation. The Plainsmen (6-7) sat one game back of Lubbock High (7-6) before their two game series.
Monterey did what they had to do with a 14-7 win, that means Friday’s game between the two teams will determine who earns the fourth and final playoff spot in district 4-5A.
