When you make it all the way to the state semi-finals, you can guarantee as a team you are doing some things right.

One of those factors can also be senior leadership, something the Idalou Wildcats know all too well.

Last season the Wildcats made it to the 3A Division 2 State Semi-Finals…toting with them a 13-1 mark.

But that was 2015.  This year only 6 lettermen return…3 of those starters.

Coach Jeff Lofton’s team will have to fill some holes if they would like to have some of the same success they experienced last season.

“You lose a big senior class and it’s always tough.  But from the time these guys are seventh graders to the time these guys are seniors, they know what we do.  They know the wildcat way, the wildcat tradition.  These guys are very disciplined, determined.  They’re tough kids.  And we keep everything routine.  They know what’s expected of them.  So when a good group leaves, there’s a good group ready to replace them .  “

Idalou opens their season on the road in Shallowater on August 26th.
