NORMAN, Okla.  (Texas Tech Press Release) – No. 19 Oklahoma went on a 20-0 run in the first half and extended the lead from there, getting past the Texas Tech Lady Raiders, 92-53, on Wednesday afternoon, in Norman, Okla.

On Field Trip Day for Oklahoma, which featured 7,000 elementary school children in attendance, Tech (10-8, 1-6) went on a seven-minute scoring drought early on. During that period the Sooners went on a 20-0 run to take a 32-6 lead early into the second quarter. The Lady Raiders went on a quick 9-0 run to cut the lead to 32-15, but that’s as close as they would get.

Oklahoma (13-4, 4-2) entered the game shooting 32% from three-point range, but hit six of its first 10, and ended up 8-19 from beyond the arc. OU shot 57.1% from the field (36-63), the highest percentage Tech has allowed this season. OU’s 92 points were the most allowed by the Lady Raiders since allowing 92 at Baylor on Jan. 29, 2014.

“You have to give Oklahoma credit,” Texas Tech head coach Candi Whitaker said. “They played well, they shot the ball extremely well and played with a lot of energy. They really beat us in every aspect. They were tougher and more physical than we were.”

The Lady Raiders committed 20 turnovers, which led to 25 Sooner points. Although Oklahoma hit eight threes, the Sooners also accumulated 48 points in the paint, led by Kaylon Williams, who finished with 18 points on 8-10 shooting.

Tech finished 19-50 from the field (38%), 5-16 from long range (31%) and 10-13 (77%) from the charity stripe, led by an 8-8 performance from Ivonne CookTaylor.

CookTaylor had 20 points to lead the Lady Raiders, her seventh 20-point performance of the season and second in the last three games. She is averaging 19 points per game in Tech’s last four contests.

“I liked Ivonne [CookTaylor] today,” Whitaker said. “I liked her voice. She was constantly talking, whether she was on the floor or on the bench. I thought she stepped up and made some plays for us. She didn’t shoot the ball as well as we need her to, but she did a good job of getting to the line. I like that there has been some consistency from her.”

Next up for the Lady Raiders is a Sunday afternoon home matchup with Kansas State. Tipoff at United Supermarkets Arena is set for 2 p.m. That game will be televised on FOX Sports Southwest Plus.
