Saturday afternoon #23 Texas Tech clawed back to defeat #6 UL-Lafayette 5-3 in extra innings.

The win marks the Red Raiders second-straight win this season over a top-10 opponent.

Texas Tech (6-1, 0-0 Big 12) trailed UL-Lafayette (3-3, 0-0 Sun Belt) 3-2 headed to the ninth inning, but the Red Raiders were able to scratch across the tying run. With the bases loaded and only one out, Tech senior catcher Tyler Floyd ripped one to the Cajuns short stop, he didn’t know what to do with it, Neslony scored from third, and everyone was safe.

Then in the top of the 10th inning, Texas Tech junior third baseman Ryan Long hit a 2 RBI double down the right field line, that plated Gutierrez and Davis to give the Raiders the 5-3 lead.

In the bottom half of the inning, Texas Tech would hold on to defeat UL-Lafayette 5-3.

Texas Tech posted the first score on the board in the top of the third inning after a Raley ground out to the Cajuns short stop, scoring Ryan Long, and the Red Raiders led 1-1.

However, in the bottom of the fourth UL-Lafayette’s Clement grounded out to second, and scored Robbins to knot it at 1 all.

In the top of the sixth inning, Tech sophomore short stop Orlando Garcia homered to left field to retake the lead 2-1.

But in the bottom half of the inning, ULL’s Robbins responded with a homer of his own to left field, to tie it up once again at 2-2.

Then in the bottom of the seventh, the Cajuns claimed their first lead of the game, Mills singled to left center, advanced to third, scored on a fielding error by center field, unearned.
