No. 3 Texas Tech clinched the series at Wichita State with a 4-1 Saturday win. 

The Red Raiders (21-4, 3-0 Big 12) scored two runs in the third, one in the fifth, and added an insurance run in the eighth inning to defeat the Shockers 4-1.

Tech put together 6 extra base hits on the afternoon. The Red Raiders were only 1-for-8 wit h runners in scoring position but they were still able to scratch enough runs to win safely.

Tech freshman right-handed pitcher got Tech going with his second home run of the season in the top of the third inning. The solo shot gave Tech a 1-0 lead. Later in the inning Tech senior first baseman Hunter Hargrove tripled to right field to score Tech junior center fielder Tanner Gardner all the way from first base. Tech controlled a 2-0 lead after three innings.

In the top of the fifth, Tech junior outfielder Ryan Long scored on a wild pitch to give Tech a 3-0 lead.

Tech sophomore left-handed pitcher Steven Gingery (5-0) was stellar once again and picked up his fifth win on the season. The California product finished with six innings pitched, and only allowed three hits and no runs, while adding just three walks to eight strikeouts on 88 total pitches.

The Shocker would add one run in the bottom of the seventh inning after Klusener hit a sac fly to right field to score Vickers and get WSU back within two runs, trailing 3-1.

However, the Red Raiders would add one final run in the top of the eight inning after Hargrove hit a double to score Gardner from second base, and give Tech a 4-1 lead. The Red Raiders would hold on from there on out for the 4-1 win.

Tech is back in action against Wichita State on Sunday, March 26 at 12 p.m. for the series finale. The game will once again be broadcast on ESPN 3 via the WatchESPN App.
