No. 3 Texas Tech cruised past Wichita State 10-5 in their series opener. The Red Raiders used a six-run fifth inning to blast the game open and take a commanding 10-1 lead.

The Raiders (20-4, 3-0 Big 12) put together 14 hits on the night, and were led by freshman catcher Michael Berglund who finished 3-for-3 with four runs batted in.

Tech sophomore right-handed pitcher Davis Martin (4-1) earned the win after pitching six innings, while only allowing three hits, one run, and only two walks to five strikeouts.

The Shockers added four runs in the eighth inning to make a push and close the gap, but the Tech lead was too much to overcome.

The Red Raiders are back in action on Saturday, March 25 when they face Wichita State in game two at 2 p.m.  from Eck Stadium.
