The No. 4 Texas Tech baseball team completed a three-game sweep of No. 21 Texas for the first time in school history behind an 8-5 Sunday win.
The Red Raiders dug themselves in a 3-1 hole, but put together two runs in the third, four runs in the fourth, and tacked on a final insurance run in the eighth inning to defeat Texas 8-5 in game three. Tech’s offense had 15 hits on the afternoon, led by Tech senior first baseman Hunter Hargrove who finished 2-for-4 with one double, and three runs batted in.
In game three the Red Raider bats hit 8-for-15 (.533), along four runs batted in, all with two outs in the inning.
The Texas Tech pitching staff set the table for Tech’s offense this weekend. The mix of 10 different Texas Tech pitchers only allowed the Horns 10 hits, 6 earned runs, and added 25 strikeouts.
Texas Tech (17-4, 3-0 Big 12) is back in action when they host UNLV in a two-game midweek set starting Tuesday, March 21 at 6:30 p.m.
