Texas Tech Football had eight Red Raiders named to the Athlon Sports Preseason All-Big 12 Teams on Tuesday.
Six of the eight players selected are on the defensive side of the ball, led by two first team selections—linebacker Dakota Allen and safety Jah’Shawn Johnson.
Allen (102) and Johnson (97) were 1-2 on the team in tackles in 2017, combining for 199. They also combined for 10 tackles for loss, 2 interceptions, two forced fumbles and a fumble recovery.
Defensive lineman Eli Howard and defensive back Justus Parker were named to the second team defense, while linebacker Jordyn Brooks and defensive back Damarcus Fields were selected to the fourth team defense.
Howard led the team in sacks, with 5.5, and Parker led the team in interceptions, with four. Brooks ranked third on the team with 89 tackles, and Damarcus Fields’ seven pass breakups were the second most on the team.
On the offensive side of the ball, offensive lineman Jack Anderson is a member of the second team, coming off a season in which he was named a Freshman All-American. T.J. Vasher, Tech’s leading returning receiver, was tabbed to the third team after hauling in 29 passes for 545 yards and six touchdowns in 2017.
Tickets are already on sale for the season-opening AdvoCare Texas Kickoff against Ole Miss with seats priced as low as $52 a person. Tickets for the Texas Farm Bureau Shootout against Baylor are set for as low as $40 a seat and will be available beginning Wednesday morning.
Tech will once again have two mini-plan options for fans this season with the Raider Power Pack and the Red Raider Family Plan. The two mini-plan selections are an additional option to season tickets, which are priced for as low as $190 per seat for all six home games.
