Texas Tech used a three-run third inning to help secure a season-opening 4-2 win over Maine Friday at Rip Griffin Park. 

Sophomore third baseman Josh Jung recorded three hits on the afternoon including a solo home run in the 5th inning.

Davis Martin picked up the win after giving up one run on three hits in five innings of work.  He surpassed the 100 career strikeout milestone during the game.

Sophomore lefthander Dane Haveman pitched the ninth inning to pick up his first career save at Texas Tech.

The Red Raiders return to action on Saturday for a doubleheader against the Black Bears at noon & 4 p.m. at Rip Griffin Park.
