Head Coach Candi Whitaker has announced the addition of Becca Bornhorst to the Lady Raider Basketball staff as a graduate assistant.
“We are very fortunate to have Becca as a member of our staff. She was a great player at Butler and earned some valuable experience as an assistant and interim head coach at Taylor. We look forward to working with her this year,” Whitaker said.
Bornhorst comes to Lubbock after spending two seasons as an assistant coach for the Taylor University women’s basketball program. She served as interim head coach last season after head coach Kelly Packard took a leave of absence.
“I am very excited for the chance to be a part of the Lady Raider basketball family. Coach Whitaker and the entire staff at Texas Tech are well-respected in this profession and have so much valuable experience,” Bornhorst said. “They are also great people away from the basketball court. I am eager to continue learning and growing as a coach under the leadership here. I am truly grateful for this opportunity.”
Prior to joining the staff at Taylor, Bornhorst spent two years as a Public Relations and Marketing Associate. She also gained professional experience during her time as a student-athlete by interning with the Butler Sports Information Department and the Indiana Fever Media Relations Department.
Bornhorst is 2013 graduate of Butler University. She was a four-year letterwinner for the Bulldogs and served as team captain. Following her senior season, Bornhorst received the Bulldog Award for leadership and unselfishness while earning academic honors from Butler, the Atlantic 10 and the Horizon League.
