Texas guard Eric Davis Jr. hit a go-ahead three-pointer with 28.8 seconds remaining to help the Longhorns beat Texas Tech 62-58 and extend their home winning streak to 21 straight over the Red Raiders.
Texas Tech (15-7) had not won at the Frank Erwin Center since 1996.
The Red Raiders jumped out to a 22-14 lead late in the first half but watched Texas end the half on a 14-4 run to lead 28-26 at the half.
Shaka Smart’s Longhorns then started the second half on 13-4 run to extend their lead to eleven.
The Red Raiders would regain the lead on a Niem Stevenson three-pointer with 6:14 remaining but made just one field goal the rest of the game.
Keenan Evans was back in the lineup after not playing against LSU and led the Red Raiders with 15 points.
Texas Tech returns home to host Oklahoma at 6 p.m. Saturday at United Supermarkets Arena.
