COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. — Junior forward Brittany Brewer has been invited by USA Basketball to attend the Pan American Games Team Trials this May.

Brewer becomes the first Lady Raider in 24 years to be invited to the Pan American Games Team Trials. Lady Raider great Sheryl Swoopes was a member of the 1995 Pan American Games team.

Brewer is one of 36 expected to participate in the trials and one of six from the Big 12 conference.

“We are beyond thrilled that Brittany has been selected for the prestigious Pan Am trials. She has worked incredibly hard and her game has evolved to an elite level,” Head Coach Marlene Stollings said. “Brittany is one of the brightest minds and humble human beings I have coached. This is such an honor for Brittany and our program.”

Brewer made big strides this season under Stollings. She averaged 16.6 points, 9.1 rebounds and 2.3 blocks per game while playing in 31 minutes per game. Brewer was named to the All-Big 12 Honorable Mention team.

The trials will take place at the U.S. Olympic Training Center in Colorado Springs, Colo. The 12-member Pan American Games Team will participate in the 2019 Pan American Games on August 6-10 in Lima, Peru. USA Basketball is the national governing body for the sport in the United States. Any team representing the United States in international basketball competitions (e.g., Olympic Games and World Cups) is selected, trained and supported by USA Basketball.

Eligible athletes for this competition must be United States citizens who are in college and have remaining collegiate eligibility. The head coach of the Pan American Games Team is Suzy Merchant from Michigan State University, assisted by Felisha Legette-Jack from the University of Buffalo and Vic Schaefer from Mississippi State University.
