Freshman guard Jarrett Culver played a big part in Texas Tech’s historic run to the Elite 8 of the NCAA tournament.
The Coronado product finished third in scoring and second in rebounding for the Red Raiders right behind his roommate, Zhaire Smith, in both categories.
Smith recently declared for the NBA Draft without hiring an agent but Culver won’t be following suit.

“I talked to coach and what I’m doing is best for me and what Zhaire is doing is best for him,” Culver said. “It’s a blessing to be in Zhaire’s position and we are all happy for him and supporting him.”
Culver is now preparing for his sophomore season with the Red Raiders and if Smith doesn’t return, the local product would be the team’s top returning scorer and rebounder next season.
