Five Texas Tech Women’s Tennis closed out the 2018 season earning spots in the final Oracle/ITA Rankings.
Four singles players made the Top 125 list while two doubles pairs made the Top 90 list.
After becoming the first Lady Raider to advance to the NCAA singles Sweet 16, senior Gabriela Talaba finished her collegiate career ranked No. 18 in the country.
Talaba earned the second-straight ITA All-America honors of her career when she advanced to the Round of 16 during the NCAA individual championships. She finished her senior season with a 17-9 overall record and a career record of 83-30 (.735).
Felicity Maltby pulled in a final ranking of No. 58 in the country. Maltby ended her junior season with a 14-12 overall record.
Senior Sabrina Federici closed out her senior season at No. 106 in the ITA rankings. She went 17-4 in her final campaign, pushing her career record to 85-21. The 85 career wins moves her into top 10 all-time for career wins. With a career winning percentage of 80.2, Federici is the winningest player in school history.
Katelyn Jackson wraps up her collegiate career at No. 118 in the ITA rankings. This is the first season Jackson was ranked in her career. After sitting out the beginning of the season due to injury, she posted a 7-2 overall record and a 3-0 record in Big 12 play.
In the doubles ranking, Sabrina Federici and Sarah Dvorak ended the season at No. 27 in the final rankings. The two qualified for the NCAA Doubles Championship for the second straight year, but fell to North Carolina’s Alle Sanford and Sara Daavettila in the opening round. The duo played at the No. 1 position (11-7) the entire dual season and posted a 12-10 overall record.
Talaba and Maltby made a jump back into the rankings and finished at No. 67 in the country. The two played at the No. 2 position while recording a team-leading 22-4 record and went 7-0 in conference play.
The Lady Raiders finished the 2018 season with a No. 9 Oracle/ITA Ranking in the final team poll.
Texas Tech extended its streak to 63 consecutive weeks in the Top 25 and finished Top 10 for the second straight season. Tech posted a 23-7 record this season and defeated five nationally ranked opponents including three wins over Top 15 opponents.
