Texas Tech’s Steven Gingery pitched five shutout innings to earn his second win of the summer in Team USA’s 5-1 victory over Cuba on Monday.
Gingery gave up hits in the first two innings but was able to get out of both innings without allowing a run then returned after a 33-minute rain delay to toss three more scoreless frames.
Gingery has now thrown 12 scoreless inning and struck out eight batters in three appearances for the United States.
The Unites States and Cuba resume their series with game three of the International Frenship Series at 6:05 p.m. EST Tuesday at BB&T Park in Charlotte, North Carolina.
