The Red Raiders marched down the field and capped a 15 play, 75-yard drive with a Nic Shimonek touchdown pass to Cameron Batson.
The score ending a streak of six straight quarters without a passing touchdown.
Shimonek threw two more touchdowns in the quarter and the Red Raiders led 20-14 after the first quarter.
It was a different story in the second quarter.
The Red Raiders punted four times and threw an interception while the Sooners scored twice to take a 28-20 halftime lead.
Oklahoma outscored Texas Tech 35-7 after the first quarter.
Texas Tech (4-4 overall, 1-4 Big 12) returns home to host Kansas State at 11 a.m. Saturday.
