Former Lady Raider Basketball head student manager Ashlee Villarreal will join the staff as a graduate assistant, Head Coach Candi Whitaker announced Tuesday morning.
“We are very excited to have Ashlee continue working with Lady Raider Basketball as a graduate assistant. She has been a huge part of our program for the last two seasons,” Whitaker said.
Villarreal is a 2017 graduate of Texas Tech and received her bachelor’s degree in sport management in May. She has served as the head student manager for the last two seasons after transferring from Western Texas College.
“I am incredibly grateful to Coach Whitaker and staff for the opportunity to continue being a part of Lady Raider Basketball. I could not ask for a better situation for this next chapter in my life,” Villarreal said. “I am beyond trilled to continue working with and learning from such a phenomenal staff. You cannot beat being around the type of tradition and family culture that Coach Whitaker instills in her players and program here at Texas Tech.”
Prior to Texas Tech, Villarreal played basketball for one season for the Westerners.
Villarreal is a Lubbock native and attended Coronado High School.
