Head coach Candi Whitaker announced the 2017-18 Texas Tech Lady Raider Basketball non-conference schedule on Thursday, which features two home games against SEC opponents.
“Our non-conference schedule will feature 10 home games, which will be a great opportunity for our team to play in front of our Lady Raider fans,” Whitaker said. “Two highlights for us will be a rematch with Texas A&M and a chance to host perennial power LSU for the Big 12/SEC Challenge. These two games against SEC opponents will help us prepare for Big I2 play.”
The Lady Raiders continue their home stand with a midweek tilt against Florida A&M on Wednesday, Nov. 15. That Sunday (Nov. 19), Tech will host Arkansas-Pine Bluff.
Tech welcomes UMass-Lowell on Wednesday, Nov. 22, just before the Thanksgiving holiday.
The Lady Raiders host Texas A&M on Sunday, Nov. 26, for the second straight meeting. The two met last November in an overtime thriller that fell in the Aggies favor. Texas A&M is coming off another 20-win season, in which they advanced to the second round of the NCAA Tournament.
Texas Tech will meet LSU on Thursday, Nov. 30, for the Big 12/SEC Challenge. The Tigers are coming off a 20-12 season and their 17th NCAA Tournament bid in the last 19 seasons. The two teams last met during the 2005-06 season when LSU defeated Tech, 76-68, in Lubbock.
The Lady Raiders hit the road for back-to-back games starting at Houston on Sunday, Dec. 3, followed by a meeting with New Mexico on Thursday, Dec. 7, in Albuquerque.
“Playing at Houston and New Mexico will test us early on the road, which will be an important area to improve this season,” Whitaker said.
The Lady Raiders close the non-conference slate with a three-game homestand, taking on Prairie View A&M (Dec. 13), UT-Rio Grande Valley (Dec. 17) and Incarnate Word (Dec. 21).
