Lady Raider Basketball Head Coach Candi Whitaker announced Wednesday that Matt Corkery has stepped down as associate head coach.
Corkery resigned from his duties to dedicate himself to his new role as husband and father.
“I would like to thank Coach Whitaker and Texas Tech for the opportunity to be a part of the Lady Raider program these last four years. It is important for me at this point in my life to shift my priority to my family and be a present part of their daily lives. I will always love this university and be grateful for my time at Tech,” Corkery said.
Corkery coached the Lady Raiders for the past four seasons. He helped Tech to back-to-back Big 12 Tournament quarterfinal appearances and was instrumental in recruiting, defense, scheduling and scouting.
“Matt informed me last week that he was resigning to be fully invested in his new family,” Whitaker said. “We respect what Matt is doing and appreciate his dedication to our program. We all wish the best for him and his family.”
Corkery came to Tech after serving as head coach at American University in Washington, D.C.
