Lady Raiders Fall to TCU, 72-60

A 26-point fourth quarter wasn’t enough to overcome TCU as the Lady Raiders fell, 72-60, on Wednesday night.

After a tough first half, Texas Tech (7-20, 1-15 Big 12) outscored TCU (18-9, 9-7 Big 12) 43-34 in the final two periods of the game.

The Lady Raiders kept it close with a 19-12 first quarter, but TCU held Tech to just five points in the second quarter while doubling their score.

With 4:46 left in the game, the Lady Raiders went on a 17-5 run sparked by a jumper in the paint by freshman Angel Hayden. Freshman Lyndsey Whilby hit back-to-back three-pointers to cut TCU’s lead down to 14. But the 26-15 quarter wasn’t enough to overcome the deficit.

Senior Jada Terry led the team with 12 points and 10 rebounds and a block. She led the team going 6-for-8 from the free throw line. Sophomore Erin DeGrate was the leading scorer with 14 points and six rebounds. Zuri Sanders recorded her third double-digit point game of the season with 10 points against the Horned Frogs.

The Lady Raiders held TCU to just one player in double figures. Amy Okonkwo scored 19 points for the Horned Frogs, scoring eight points at the charity stripe.

The Lady Raiders travel to Oklahoma on Saturday for the final road game of the season. Tipoff is set for noon on FS Oklahoma.
