A 33-point third quarter highlighted Lady Raider Basketball’s 89-60 win over Prairie View A&M on Wednesday night.

Texas Tech (4-5) snapped a four-game skid with the win while Prairie View fell to 2-7 on the year.

After a slow start, the Lady Raiders shot 46 percent from the field during the second quarter alone, outscoring the panthers, 23-13.

The second quarter momentum carried over the break. The Lady Raiders outscored Prairie View A&M, 33-21, marking the first 30-point quarter since the team scored 31 in the third quarter at No. 22 West Virginia last season (1/25/17).

In the third period alone, the Lady Raiders made 15 of their 20 shots taken, scoring 26 of the 33 points in the paint.

Six Lady Raiders scored in double-figures against Prairie View for the first time since six players scored double-digit points against Alcorn State last season.

Freshman Lyndsey Whilby led the team with a career-high 15 points. Sophomore Erin DeGrate and senior Dayo Olabode followed with 13 points each while Zuri Sanders and Jada Terry scored 12 points. Brittany Brewer rounded out the top scorers with 10 points, marking her seventh double-digit game of the season.

NOTES

        The Lady Raiders scored 33 points in the third quarter, tying the program high for most points in a single quarter (1st, North Dakota, 11/13/16).

        Tech set a new season high in assists with 21 against Prairie View.

        Led by Grayson Bright and Erin DeGrate, the Lady Raiders posted a season-best eight blocked shots against the panthers.

The Lady Raiders will host UT-Rio Grande Valley on Sunday in the program’s Throwback Game. The contest will be played at the Lady Raiders’ former home, the Lubbock Municipal Coliseum. Tip-off is set for 2 p.m.
