Texas Tech assistant Mark Adams won’t be leaving Lubbock for Hattiesburg, Mississippi.

Southern Miss announced the hiring of Jay Ladner as its new men’s basketball coach on Wednesday.

The Biloxi Sun Herald reported that Adams was one of two finalists for the job and met with the schools president about the opening on Wednesday.

Adams has spent the past four seasons on Chris Beard’s coaching staffs at Texas Tech and Arkansas-Little Rock.
