LUBBOCK, Texas — Texas Tech football coach Matt Wells told the media back in March he was looking forward to receiving the invitation to throw out the first pitch at a Texas Tech baseball game.
Tim Tadlock used ten different pitchers in Wednesday’s win over San Diego State.
If he needs another arm we know someone who has some free time and is good for at least one pitch. #Wreckem @TTUCoachWells pic.twitter.com/HEXQJacpb8 — David Collier (@CollieronTV) March 8, 2019
Wells got the opportunity before the Red Raiders midweek game with New Mexico on Tuesday at Rip Griffin Park.
Pretty good first pitch effort from Texas Tech Football Coach Matt Wells today as he kept his promise and brought the heat ahead of the Red Raiders’ midweek game against New Mexico. pic.twitter.com/0iexKuwlR7 — Eric Kelly (@EricKellyTV) April 24, 2019
Wells didn’t deliver a strike but he delivered the heat as promised.
He was the first of 15 different people to throw off the mound Tuesday. New Mexico used nine pitchers and the Red Raiders used five different hurlers in Texas Tech’s 6-4 win.
