The Texas Tech Women’s Tennis team fell to No. 8 Auburn, 4-2, in the championship match of the 69th Annual Blue Gray National Tennis Classic Saturday evening.
Texas Tech (7-3) earned a 1-0 advantage, clinching the doubles point with wins on courts two and three.
Auburn countered with a two-set win on court two. Andie Dikosavljevic defeated No. 32 Felicity Maltby, 6-0, 6-1.
Katelyn Jackson gave the Lady Raiders a 2-1 lead with a 6-2, 6-2 win over Auburn’s Roos van der Zwaan.
The Tigers tied it up once again, 2-2, with a two-set win on court four. Alex Valenstein fell to Georgie Axon, 6-2, 6-4.
Auburn clinched the comeback win with wins on courts one and three to close out the match and tournament.
Texas Tech returns to action on Saturday, March 4, as the Lady Raiders host No. 15 TCU at the McLeod Tennis Center. First serve is set for noon. The Lady Raiders will also host #23 Rice on Sunday at 1 p.m.
