The No. 8 Texas Tech baseball team knotted up its series against No. 18 Texas with a 16-5 win on Saturday afternoon at Dan Law Field at Rip Griffin Park.

The Red Raiders (35-13, 12-8) recorded 16 runs on 13 hits, scoring in seven-straight innings in the middle game vs. the Longhorns (32-18, 13-7). Four Tech batters had multi-hit performances, with junior Cody Farhat matching a career-high four hits to go with three RBI and two runs scored. It was the third time in his career he’s tallied four hits in a contest.

Sophomore right-handed pitcher Caleb Kilian worked a career-high 6.1 innings against the Longhorns on Saturday afternoon. The Flower Mound native allowed four runs, two earned, on six hits, walking one and striking out two to improve to 8-1 this season.

The Red Raiders struck first in the second inning on a solo homer from senior Michael Davis for a 1-0 lead. His 10th dinger of the season was crushed to center field with two outs in the frame, the 26th two-out home run by a Tech hitter this season.

Back-to-back two-out hits from Texas in their next trip to the plate tied the game, as a double from Hibbeler was fulfilled by an RBI single to put the Longhorns on the board. In the bottom half of the inning, Tech would re-take the lead after a triple by a Farhat & a double play sent him home to make it 2-1.

In the fourth inning, Tech took advantage of three-straight two-out walks with a two-RBI single from Farhat to make it 4-1. Free passes to senior Zach Rheams, Davis and junior Cameron Warren set up the Farhat’s seventh multi-RBI performance of the season with a single up the middle of the infield.

Tech scored for the fourth-straight inning in the fifth, plating five runs for a 9-1 lead. A two-run homer to center field from sophomore Josh Jung brought in sophomore Brian Klein, who doubled with one out, for the first two runs of the frame. It was also Jung’s 10th dinger of the year. The Red Raiders made good use of another two-out walk to Rheams, as Davis stroked an RBI double off the left field wall to push the score to 7-1. Farhat drove in Davis shortly after with a single to center field, then a failed pickoff attempt sent Warren home to complete the five-run fifth for Tech.

UT countered with two in the top of the sixth to cut the deficit to 9-3. After an error on a bunt put Clemens at third, a double from Hamilton scored one run, and a sacrifice fly from Reynolds brought in the second run of the frame. Tech traded it with their own two-run sixth, as Rheams lifted a double to left-center field to score Jung & sophomore Grant Little for an 11-3 lead.

In the next frame, Texas picked up two runs on a double from McGuire & a sacrifice fly from Clemens to make it 11-5. A bases-loaded walk to Jung in the bottom of the seventh, followed by a two-RBI single from Little neutralized the damage done in the top of the inning, extending the lead to 14-5. The seventh-straight inning with runs scored came in the eighth following a fielder’s choice from freshman Cody Masters and a triple from Klein, bringing the score to its total at 16-5.

The Red Raiders and Longhorns wrap the season set on Sunday at 2 p.m. on FOX Sports Southwest Plus.
