Texas Tech’s Keenan Evans played but wasn’t himself as the Red Raiders fell to Oklahoma State, 79-71, Wednesday night in Stillwater.
The senior point guard was in the lineup despite being slowed by a toe injury that forced him to miss the entire second half against Baylor. Evans was just 1-for-7 from the field and finished with two points.
Zhaire Smith picked up the slack scoring ten of the Red Raiders first 12 points in the game. He led Texas Tech with 18 points but scored just four in the second half.
Texas Tech led 35-34 at the half but Oklahoma State came out on fire.
The Cowboys hit their first nine field goal attempts in the second half including six threes to jump in front 59-43.
Jarrett Culver led the comeback scoring 12 straight points for the Red Raiders in the second half to help Texas Tech pull within four in the final two minutes but would get no closer.
Texas Tech (22-6, 10-5) returns home to host Kansas at 3 p.m. Saturday at United Supermarkets Arena.
