Texas Tech baseball’s Grant Little and Zach Rheams have been named Second Team All-Americans by the American Baseball Coaches Association (ABCA)/Rawlings, it was announced today.
It’s the sixth All-America accolade for Little this season and the first for Rheams. Josh Jung and Gabe Holt have also picked up AA awards from various outlets, while Holt has earned three Freshman All-America honors as well.
Little, an outfielder from Midland, has started all 62 games of the year and trails only Jung on offense both on the team & in the Big 12. He heads into the CWS with 87 hits, 73 RBI and 61 runs to go with a team-high 24 doubles and 12 homers.
Rheams, a native of Angleton, paces the Red Raiders with 17 homers, the most by a Tech hitter since 2007. Twenty-seven of his 54 hits have gone for extra bases this year, while racking up 54 RBI and 39 runs to go with it. He ranks fifth in the country in slugging percentage heading into the weekend.
The Red Raiders open the NCAA College World Series on Sunday, June 17, against Florida at 6 p.m. on ESPN2 at T.D. Ameritrade Park in Omaha.
