It was announced Sunday that former Lady Raider basketball player Sheryl Swoopes headlines the six-member Class of 2017 that will be inducted into the Women’s Basketball Hall of Fame this summer.
It is the second such induction this calendar year, Swoopes was inducted into the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of fame last fall.
The former Lady Raiders led Texas Tech to it’s lone national title in 1993, she won three olympic gold medals for the United States. Also in her pro career, she was a three-time WNBA MVP in 2000, 2002 and 2005. She also led the Houston Comets to four straight WNBA titles from 1997-2000.
