Under Kliff Kingsbury, when his defense has held a team to score only 35 points or less, they have only lost two games. Two.
They’re scoring points. They just can’t keep anyone else from scoring.
Finally this season, Tech’s third-year defensive coordinator David Gibbs believes he has a defensive unit that at least looks the part.
Sometimes that can be half the battle. Like they say: when you look good, you feel good – and hopefully that results in the Texas Tech defense playing good.
“I think that we will look a lot different than we have. I think we will look like a Big 12 defense. I’m just saying stature-wise,” Gibbs said. “Getting Dakota Allen back, alongside Jordyn Brooks – our linebackers will look like everyone else’s linebackers. The junior college DBs we brought in along with some transfers will look like a Big 12 secondary. Now, we’ve got to go play like one, but my first two year here I don’t think that we looked like everybody else. I think this will be a fun team to watch because I don’t think that anybody thinks we will be very good. But I think it will be a little different than most people anticipate.”
