LUBBOCK, Texas — Texas Tech baseball did in by UT-Rio Grande Valley’s five-run second inning in its 6-3 loss Tuesday at Rip Griffin Park.
Mason Montgomery pitch just 1.2 innings giving up five runs on five hits, but on two of those runs were earned.
Cody Masters dropped what would have been an inning-ening pop fly that allowed two runs to score. The Vacqueros would score one more in the inning to lead 5-0 after two innings.
Dylan Neuse would get one back with an RBI double in the third and add another in the fourth inning but would not pick up another base hit the rest of the game.
The Red Raiders (29-14) wrap up their series with UTRGV at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Rip Griffin Park.
