After a Baylor touchdown, Texas Tech regained the lead on a Clayton Hatfield 42-yard field goal. It was the 50th field goal of Hatfield’s career tying him with Ryan Bustin for the school record.
Texas Tech’s defense had three sacks and two interceptions in the first half and went to the locker room with a 17-14 lead after Demarcus Felton 7-yard touchdown.
The Bears opened the second half with two straight touchdowns to jump in front 28-17.
The Red Raiders pulled within a seven points on a Carter touchdown pass to Seth Collins late in the third quarter but entered the fourth trailing 28-21.
Baylor head coach Matt Rhule entered the game winning 30-straight games when leading after four quarters.
The Bears extended the lead to 35-24 early in the fourth on a Charlie Brewer touchdown pass to Denzel Mims.
Texas Tech’s Carter threw two fourth quarter interceptions in the loss.
