Texas Tech had a chance in the final seconds but that first Big 12 road win eluded the Red Raiders once again in Wednesday’s 65-61 loss to No. 5 Baylor.
Keenan Evans’ go-ahead 3-point try was blocked by Ishmail Wainwright with .5 seconds remaining allowing to Baylor to hold off Texas Tech and remain unbeaten at home.
Officials blew the whistle on Evans’ attempt but after a short discussion ruled a jump ball giving possession to the Bears.
Aaron Ross came off the bench to lead the Red Raiders (14-6, 3-5) despite dealing with foul trouble.
Ross was not alone. Zach Smith, Anthony Livingstont, Matthew Temple and Ross all had four fouls with nearly eight minutes remaining in the game.
Baylor’s Johnathan Motley scored 15 of his game-high 25 points from the free throw line.
Texas Tech returns home to host LSU in the Big 12-SEC Challenge at 1 p.m. Saturday at United Supermarkets Arena.
