Texas Tech will be spotlighted in primetime once again Oct. 28 when the Red Raiders travel to Norman to face Oklahoma in a 7 p.m. kickoff from Gaylord Family – Oklahoma Memorial Stadium. Television coverage will be provided nationally on either ABC or ESPN2.

This will be Tech’s third night kickoff this season as the Red Raiders (4-2; 1-2) previously hosted Arizona State and Oklahoma State in 7 p.m. starts. It will be the first time Tech has gone on the road for a night game since midway through the 2016 season when the Red Raiders traveled to Kansas State.

Tech has not previously faced the Sooners on the road in primetime since the 2011 meeting between the two schools where the Red Raiders outlasted Oklahoma, 41-38, following a 104-minute rain delay prior to kickoff. The Sooners were the top-ranked team in the country coming into that game in the coaches’ poll and No. 3 overall in the Associated Press rankings.

The two schools rewrote the record books against each other a year ago after combining for 1,708 yards of total offense in a 66-59 victory by the Sooners. It marked the most combined yards of total offense in a game in NCAA FBS history, breaking the previous mark of 1,640 yards that was set in 2011 by San Jose State and Nevada.

Patrick Mahomes II tied the NCAA FBS record with 734 passing yards as part of a Tech offense that compiled a school-record 854 yards of total offense (734 passing, 120 passing). Mahomes finished with 819 yards of total offense on his own, which easily broke the NCAA FBS single-game record of 751 yards set by Washington State’s Connor Halliday in a 2014 meeting against California.

The Red Raiders will first host Iowa State for Homecoming this Saturday. Kickoff is slated for 11 a.m. at Jones AT&T Stadium with television coverage provided nationally on FOX Sports 1.
