Texas Tech scored on its first drive for the first time this season and never looked back in its 65-19 win over Kansas Saturday in Lawrence.
After rushing for just 54 yards in last week’s loss to Oklahoma State, the Red Raiders piled up 313 yards on the ground led by Justin Stockton’s career-high 161 yards and a touchdown.
Desmond Nisby added 93 yards and scored four touchdowns.
Nic Shimonek finished 19-for-24 for 233 yards and two touchdowns. His second was a 40-yard pass to Keke Coutee, who started Saturday after leaving last week’s game with a left leg injury.
Coutee had 8 catches for 87 yards and the score tha put the Red Raiders up 48-19 late in the third quarter.
Texas Tech’s defense forced four turnovers including a fumble that was returned 20 yards for a score by Justus Parker. Parker also intercepted a pass to give the Red Raiders their 14th forced turnover in five games. Texas Tech forced 12 turnovers all of last season.
The Red Raiders (4-1, 1-1) visit West Virginia at 11 a.m. Saturday in Morgantown.
