Freshman Erin Edmoundson went the distance and struck out seven in Texas Tech’s 1-0 win over Stephen F. Austin in the first round of the Conway Regional at the National Invitational Softball Championship.
Texas Tech’s two hits on the day came in the first inning against the Lady Jacks.
Micheala Cochran singled then stole second and third and Karli Hamilton drove her in with an RBI single to center field.
Hamilton’s single extended her hitting streak to 17 games.
Edmoundson improved to 16-11 with the win.
The victory was the 30th of the season for Texas Tech. The first thirty win season under head coach Adrian Gregory and the first post season win for the Red Raiders since 2012.
The Red Raiders advance to play the winner of UT Arlington and Central Arkansas on Thursday at 3 p.m. with the winner moving on to the regional championship.
